Amy Solberg, Director

Amy Solberg has been the director of the Bellaire Choirs for the past three years. Under her direction the choirs have received sweepstakes at UIL competitions, numerous awards at festivals in New York City and San Antonio, and have been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall and across the country in various festivals and competitions. Prior to working at Bellaire she taught high school choir, piano, jazz band, and guitar in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ms. Solberg holds a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Music degree in piano and choral education from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where she was a member of the world-renowned Concordia Choir under Rene Clausen.

Ms. Solberg is an active member of the choral community. She currently sings in Cantare Houston, Coro, and at Christ Church Cathedral. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women and was inducted into the National Honor Roll of Outstanding Teachers of America. Her professional affiliations include ACDA, TCDA, TMEA, MENC, and Chorus America.

Peggy Walter,
voice instructor & accompanist

Peggy Walter has been the private vocal instructor and accompanist for the Bellaire Choirs for the past ten years. Under her guidance Bellaire students have consistently achieved the highest possible ratings at Regional and State solo competitions, won membership in the prestigious Texas All-State Choir, received highly-coveted "Outstanding Performer Awards" at State UIL vocal concests, been awarded leading roles in numerous musical theatre productions, and gained admission to music schools across the country.

Ms. Walter is a graduate of The Eastman school of Music in piano and Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music in
choir. She also holds a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management from Houston Baptist University.

In addition to assisting with the Bellaire choral program, Ms. Walter maintains a private voice studio, provides vocal coaching for individuals and ensembles, accompanies for a variety of organizations, and serves on the music staff of two area churches as pianist and choral director.
